On March 7, 2023, the Commission distributed to bar associations, court administrators, and each of Pennsylvania’s law schools its annual one-page summary of Pennsylvania attorney demographic data. The data is collected and reported by the Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board via a voluntary demographic check-off box, added to the annual attorney registration form by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania at the Commission’s suggestion. The data collected over the past year reveals that the number of attorneys who elected to provide their racial and ethnic information increased by 2.7%, to a total of 90.5%. Consistent with results in recent years, the racial and ethnic breakdown of Pennsylvania attorneys has remained roughly the same, although the actual number of attorneys who identified as belonging to a racial or ethnic minority again modestly increased.
