On April 12, 2023, the Commission submitted comments in support of the PA Supreme Court’s proposed amendments to PA Rule of Criminal Procedure 632, which would explicitly permit state judicial districts to collect and retain aggregated, personally non-identifiable juror demographic data and would expand the statewide Juror Information Questionnaire’s racial and ethnic categories from which potential jurors may select. The amendments proposed by the Court were nearly identical in content to the changes the Commission had originally suggested the Court propose. The Commission is hopeful the proposed amendments to Rule 632 will take effect in the near future.
