Court Adopts Amended Version of Commission’s Proposed Rule to Prohibit Attorneys from Engaging in Harassment or Discriminatory Behavior

The Commission was pleased to learn that on July 26, 2021, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania approved an amendment to Rule of Professional Conduct 8.4(g), which will prohibit attorneys from knowingly engaging in discriminatory or biased behavior in the practice of law. Although a legal challenge has been initiated against the Rule, its implementation represents the successful culmination of several years of advocacy for the Rule by the Commission, who initially suggested its addition to the Rules of Professional Conduct. As amended, the Rule will take effect on August 25, 2021.
